Brownwood council may OK eminent domain in gaining property for extension
“Brownwood City Council members will consider approving a resolution Tuesday to acquire six parcels of property, including initiating eminent domain proceedings if necessary, for the Market Place Boulevard Extension Project.
City officials have negotiated with one or more of the property owners and have been unable to reach a price on selling the property to the city, an agenda item briefing sheet states.
The Market Place Extension Project will provide a parallel route to Commerce Street and will consist of the construction of a 2.755-foot extension from the northeast corner of the Home Depot property to Riverside Park Drive.”
