Adelanto halts eminent domain efforts
“City Manager Jim Hart said Adelanto officials have halted efforts to use eminent domain to acquire an 11-acre parcel adjacent to City Hall because the cash-strapped city doesn’t have the funds to pursue the project or costly litigation.
The City Council previously approved resolution 11-23 declaring the necessity to use the land-grab procedure in order to update and expand Richardson Park, Hart said.
“We applied for two $5 million grants from the state, back-to-back, for an expansion to create a central park concept which would have included an amphitheater, gymnasium, and additional sports fields or play areas,” Hart said.”
