Family rallies to save farmland from eminent domain
“The proposed expansion of power lines, which is part of the state Energy Highway, will run through their homes, gardens, and fields according to the proposal submitted to the Public Service Commission by New York Transmission Owners, also known as NY Transco.
NY Transco’s proposal states additional land may be needed where right-of-ways under existing lines and towers are not large enough for the expansion project.
Keeler and his family fear their lands will be taken through eminent domain.
Pam Kline, leader of Farmers and Families for Claverack, has said NY Transco has only communicated with the Keelers and other residents of Webb Road by letter.”
