Defense bill puts new limits on Colo training site

“The amendment was added by Democratic Sen. Mark Udall and Republican Rep. Cory Gardner. It’s intended to give ranchers near the 365-square-mile site assurances that it can’t be expanded without explicit approval from Congress.

Gardner says the new language is a more effective barrier than a series of one-year bans in budget bills since 2008.

Last month, the Army said it would ask the Pentagon to revoke a permit it got in 2007 to expand the site.”
