Eminent domain to be used for bridge project

“The North Beaver Township supervisors will use eminent domain to take property needed for a bridge replacement project.

They voted unanimously at a special meeting Monday to authorize their solicitor, Thomas W. Leslie, to begin condemnation proceedings for 0.57 acres of property owned by Norfolk Southern Corp. This will ultimately allow the common pleas court to set a price for the township to take the property for replacement of a bridge on Wampum Road. The deteriorating bridge, which is near Halltown Road, is open, but with load limits.

The railroad property is the last holdout of three parcels needed for the project, officials said. The railroad has offices in Columbus, Ohio, Atlanta, Ga., and Harrisburg.”
