Henrico School Board settles land dispute

“The dispute was over how much members of the Pucher family should be paid for 40 acres of their family farm in eastern Henrico that the county took as a site for a future school.

The exact value of the settlement remains undisclosed, but legal documents show that, in January, negotiations were stalled with the two sides $300,000 apart. The family said its lowest offer was $1.1 million, while the attorney representing the School Board countered that he wouldn’t recommend his clients approve any settlement more than $800,000.

The county agreed to pay the family $636,000 when it took the land in 2010 using the county’s power of eminent domain.”
