More hotels join anti-Gaylord lawsuit; eco-devo panel backs funding
“Three more hotels joined the lawsuit to stop the Aurora Gaylord hotel project from receiving state tax-increment financing Thursday, even as the Colorado Economic Development Commission officially approved a resolution for developers of the hotel/conference center to receive as much as $81.4 million in state funds as they move ahead with construction.
Chesapeake Lodging Trust, Cheyenne Mountain Conference Resort and 550 15th Owner LLC joined the lawsuit, which originally was filed in Denver District Court on Sept. 11.
The new plaintiffs — representing the owners of Denver Marriott City Center, Cheyenne Mountain Resort of Colorado Springs and dual-branded Hampton Inn/Homewood Suites in Denver — were part of the original 22-hotel coalition that petitioned the EDC for revocation of the tax incentives, but they just took longer to sign onto the now 11-plaintiff suit, said Lynea Hansen, spokeswoman for the plaintiffs.”
