Action allows Eminent Domain proceedings for Spur 10 to begin
“After a closed door session of the Fort Bend County Commissioners Court on July 9, its unanimous action allows the county to move forward on eminent domain proceedings for acquiring land for Spur 10, one of Fort Bend’s mobility projects. In October 2012, commissioners passed a resolution for using eminent domain to obtain right of way property required to widen Spur 10. The property lies along Gerken and Hartledge roads between SH 36 and U.S. 59, and consists of about 55 parcels of land.
As previously reported by the “Star”, which is stated in the resolution, the improvements to Spur 10 are intended to increase safety, access, and mobility for the traveling public and will also add capacity for projected population growth. A portion of Spur 10, according to an accounting, had almost 1,200 vehicles traveling on it each day in 2005, and projections stated that the same part of the road would have close to 3,000 vehicles per day in 2025.”
