As we note that the proximate cause of the Detroit riot was the raid (by the police) on a peaceful (although unlicensed) drinking and gambling group of blacks, and we also note that the Kerner Commission at no time ever thought that the riots would not have happened if the Detroit police had not mounted that raid. That is one of the major problems with all studies commissioned by government, the box they work in at no time admits that the government ought to leave citizens alone, this is not the only case where the government caused a riot for no good reason.”
