“While serving on the Homeless Commission, I led an effort to begin a working group to develop a 24-hour rest and resource center. It will be the first of its kind in the city. We have already identified $1 million, which will be leveraged with other resources to pay for the project. Some of those other resources include dollars that are generated by downtown. Should the Denver Urban Renewal Authority Board and City Council approve the proposal, a percentage of the downtown tax increment finance (TIF) extension will go to projects addressing homeless needs, which will be the first time this has happened in the history of TIF in Denver.”
