No objections heard to taking Kiernan Plaza by eminent domain
“There was broad support today for a city agency in Albany, NY, to take Kiernan Plaza downtown by eminent domain in order to convert the empty, historic former train station into a corporate headquarters and high-tech incubator.
Among the speakers who urged the city Industrial Development Agency to move ahead were representatives of Couch White LLP, Palace Theater, Historic Albany Foundation, National Grid, and the Albany Symphony Orchestra.
Also supporting eminent domain were leaders from the Downtown Albany Business Improvement District, Yono’s Restaurant, RBC Bank and a local building trades union.”
