City OKs building grab

“n an attempt to ensure that a federal court remains in Aberdeen, city council members Wednesday took the first step toward buying the old federal building.

Council members unanimously approved what’s called a resolution of necessity. It does not obligate the city to buy the 77-year-old building at 102 Fourth Ave. S.E. But Adam Altman, city attorney, advised the council that it should not OK the resolution unless it had the intent to follow through with using the eminent domain process to buy the building.”
