LETTER: Preservation Society pleased mayor listened

“The Preservation Society of Fall River is pleased and relieved with Mayor Will Flanagan’s decision to scale back the medical district re-zoning proposal, and we’d like to put it behind us, but The Herald News’ recent editorial was so myopic that we feel that it deserves a response.

We support hospital expansion. We recognize and appreciate that the city needs to be proactive in attracting more businesses, and hence jobs into Fall River. However, we do not have to sell out at any expense. There should be plenty of room for reasonable compromise. Instead, a proposal was submitted that was overly advantageous to the hospital groups.”
