Downtown Partnership wants city to wield eminent domain at Light and Baltimore
“Downtown Partnership of Baltimore Inc. wants city officials to threaten the use of eminent domain to prompt action on prime real estate at Light and Baltimore streets.
Included in the targeted properties are three vacant buildings on the 100 block of East Baltimore Street; a mostly vacant 19,000-square-foot building that houses a McDonald’s on the first floor; and a half-acre parking lot at 5 Light St.
All of the properties except for the McDonald’s building are owned by Washington, D.C.-based Capital Guidance Corp., which appointed J. Joseph Clarke, the husband of Councilwoman Mary Pat Clarke, as developer of the project in 1992.”
