IRS wants to move Hy-Tech case to federal court
“The federal government is seeking to move the civil lawsuit brought by the city of Anderson against Hy-Tech Machining to a federal court.
The U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Indiana filed a motion in Madison Circuit Court, Division 6 to move the city’s eminent domain case to the U.S. District Court in Indianapolis.
The Internal Revenue Service has $178,666 in tax liens against Hy-Tech Machining.
The city is seeking to obtain the property along Scatterfield Road for the future home of the Purdue College of Technology. The federal government’s request to move the case is not expected to slow down the proposed construction project, city officials said.
Ashley Hopper, city attorney, said the eminent domain process continues to move forward.
Tim Horty, public information officer with the U.S. Attorney’s office, said Tuesday the office doesn’t comment on ongoing litigation.
Greg Winkler, executive director of the Anderson Economic Development Department, said at present the eminent domain process will not be affected by the request.”
