UCA presents new offer to Papa John’s, explores eminent domain
“The University of Central Arkansas recently presented a new offer to Ozark Pizza Company of Tulsa (d.b.a. Papa John’s) that removes the chance for the pizza chain to remain open at its current location during the construction of Donaghey Hall.
Donaghey Hall, a mixed-use project featuring student housing and commercial/retail space, is set to break ground in spring 2015 with completion by August 2016.
UCA refused to accept a counter offer that Papa John’s presented to the university Dec. 8: $435,000 for the purchase and $270,000 for relocation compensation. The university made an initial offer of $185,000.
Included in UCA’s Dec. 17 offer is the university’s written intention to proceed with eminent domain proceedings if an agreement is not reached by Jan. 9, 2015.”
