U-C Sanitary District talking eminent domain on Cronus project
“Officials at the Urbana and Champaign Sanitary District on Thursday will talk about using eminent domain to get land for a pipe that’ll run to a plant near Tuscola. But, they’re hoping it doesn’t come to that.
The pipe will transport water from the Champaign area to the Cronus Chemicals plant near Tuscola. Sanitary district executive director Rick Manner said a “strong majority” of property owners along the pipe’s path are on board with the project. But officials want to have eminent domain in their back pocket just in case.”
