Parties seek to reform eminent domain process
“Landowners along the proposed natural gas pipeline route say they will meet next week with the governor’s executive team to ask for a moratorium on land negotiations with Vermont Gas Systems until the end of the year.
The landowners say the property easement process is too complicated for the average person to understand and that the governor’s office needs to “hit pause” on negotiations until parties can educate themselves, set stricter ground rules and coordinate reimbursement for legal fees. “
