Letter: Mass DOT at Boxford Town Hall Monday night to discuss Rail Trail
“We wish to remind our neighbors of Boxford that next Monday, Nov. 17, MASS Dot will be meeting with the Town Selectman to discuss the proposed Rail Trail.
As many may be aware, the Selectmen have proposed to take our family’s property through eminent domain. The threat has clouded the title to our property making it impossible for us to sell. It establishes a horrific precedent within the community and as the Selectmen have yet to attempt to propose terms to acquire our home a vulgar abuse of their power.
MASS Dot informed the Town Selectmen it does not support taking of property for recreation trails and this action by the Town Selectmen is potentially in violation of the Federal Grant regulations and if so risks forfeiture of the $4.5 million grant, funding for much of the trail.”
