Proposed pipeline runs through SE Iowa
“Proponents of a crude oil pipeline from North Dakota to Illinois say the project will bring billions of dollars to Iowa, but it will also cut through more than 80 miles of area farmland.
The proposed pipeline will run a total of 1,134 miles and have a final capacity of 570,000 barrels of crude oil per day. Chuck Frey, vice president for engineering at Energy Transfer Partners, LLC., said the pipeline will run across Iowa from Lyon County in the northwest to Lee County in southeast Iowa, almost exactly a diagonal line from the two corners.
The pipe will be buried to a depth of at least four feet.
