Proposed pipeline meetings planned
“An attorney will give a presentation in Gretna on property rights issues surrounding the proposed Mountain Valley Pipeline while the company that seeks to build the 300-mile pipeline will hold an open house of its own in Gretna.
Joseph T. Waldo, an eminent domain attorney with Waldo & Lyle in Norfolk, represents property owners defending themselves against eminent domain, which is sometimes used by companies to establish rights-of-way across landowners’ properties.
The pipeline would run through Giles, Montgomery, Roanoke, Franklin and Pittsylvania counties.
Callands-Gretna Supervisor Jerry Hagerman asked Waldo to give the presentation after seeing him speak in Blacksburg on Monday.
Mountain Valley Pipeline, LLC will hold an open house on the pipeline project next month to provide information for landowners, residents, environmental groups and other stakeholders in the project. “This is the opportunity for community members to actually talk to the … experts,” Cox said.
The open house will include several stations where attendees can get information from MVP officials covering aspects of the project, such as the survey process, environmental impacts, land issues, safety and others. FERC representatives will also be at the open house.”
