Eminent domain concerns commissioners
“Concerns, and a degree of condemnation, about taking private property by eminent domain highlighted a Thursday afternoon meeting of the Mount Airy Board of Commissioners.
Though that issue wasn’t on the meeting agenda, it didn’t stop comments from emerging about eminent domain — which has been a hot topic of conversation in town as it relates to plans under way by a new redevelopment commission.
The taking of commercial property by eminent domain which is determined to be blighted, one of the vast powers of the commission, was among concerns of citizens attending a public meeting Monday night conducted by that group.
