City starts eminent domain process

“The Anderson Redevelopment Commission has started the process to obtain the former General Motors Plant 18 site through eminent domain.

The commission on Thursday voted unanimously to request that the Anderson City Council adopt a resolution to begin the process of obtaining the property.

The property is located on the east side of Scatterfield Road, north of the intersection with 32nd Street and contains at least 10 acres.
The Redevelopment Commission wants to construct a new building for the Purdue College of Technology and Flagship Maker Space there.

Purdue University and the Flagship are not a part of the eminent domain proceedings.”
