Erie trustees could grant eminent domain power to Golden Run neighbor
“Aaron Harber, a public affairs television host and owner of the controversial 320-acre Golden Run parcel in Erie, is crying foul over a resolution on the town board’s agenda that, if approved, would allow a neighboring property to acquire a portion of his land for use in extending an area roadway.
The Board of Trustees Tuesday night, as part of its consent agenda, will consider a resolution supporting the Erie Farm Metropolitan District’s use of eminent domain to acquire a portion of Harber’s land for use as a roadway easement.
The metro district, now known as the Compass property, covers 158 acres of residential land at the northwest corner of East County Line and Arapahoe roads. Harber’s Golden Run parcel is located just north of that stretching from East County Line Road to 119th Street east to west. The land Compass is seeking to acquire skirts the boundary between the two parcels and would be used as right-of-way to extend Vista Parkway west of East County Line as outlined in the Erie transportation master plan.”
