BRUCE TOWNSHIP: Property rights advocate speaks to residents
“An overflow crowd showed up at the Bruce Township hall Aug. 18 to hear Jeff Axt present his case on why residents should fight a proposed natural gas pipeline that will be installed in the township in the next few years.
Axt, founder of POLAR, Protect Our Land and Rights, spoke for two hours on a variety of points aimed at blocking or re-routing the proposed ET Rover pipeline that will wind through Michigan.
The township board recently made its view clear by passing a resolution to be filed with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission objecting to the Texas-based Energy Transfer Partners project and to impede as few farmlands as possible if it does install the pipeline.
At the same meeting, Treasurer Debbie Obrecht announced that rather than following the route of the much-despised Enbridge Energy Company 6B oil pipeline currently being installed in the township, the ET Rover project may seek to find its own easements within the township.”
