Erie OKs eminent domain power at Aaron Harber’s Golden Run
“The Board of Trustees voted Tuesday night to authorize a third-party’s acquisition, through eminent domain, of a small slice of television host Aaron Harber’s property.
Harber and the Erie Farm Metropolitan District, better known as the Compass property, have been in talks for 18 months over a roughly quarter-acre swath of Harber’s 320-acre Golden Run parcel.
Compass, which covers more than 150 acres of residential land at the northwest corner of East County Line and Arapahoe roads, has wanted the small section of Harber’s land — which brushes up against the Compass metro district — for use as a roadway easement.
The town voted in October to annex Harber’s Golden Run, previously part of rural Boulder County. The small section of the parcel the Compass has sought to acquire would be used as a right-of-way to extend Vista Parkway west of East County Line Road, as outlined in the town’s transportation master plan.
The service plan for the Compass district allows for the use of eminent domain, provided the town leadership consents.”
