Caltrans to sell 53 properties near 710 Freeway
“Forty-two homes in the path of what was once planned as a 710 Freeway surface extension between Alhambra and Pasadena survived demolition when the project died. Those 42 homes and 11 vacant lots were chosen for sale and Caltrans, which purchased the properties through eminent domain, listed them online last week.
The houses encompass a broad range of architectural styles, from traditional Los Angeles ranch houses to extravagant mansions, according to the Pasadena Star-News.
The homes will reportedly be available for purchase as early as this fall, while the 11 properties without housing will reportedly hit the market right away.
The 53 properties were selected because they do not figure into any of the five remaining options that the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority and Caltrans face. Those options are: light rail (hurrah), bus, freeway tunnel, so-called “traffic management solutions or nothing at all, the Star-News reports.”
