Redevelopment study concerns Sea Bright board
” The Planning/Zoning Board began discussions about the redevelopment of deteriorated properties last week, with several members voicing concerns about the potential for the use of eminent domain.
Councilman and board member Marc Leckstein said that while the term “eminent domain” is being used, the board would not be condemning private residences.
“We are not looking to condemn anyone’s home, and that is very, very important,” Leckstein said. “We are not looking to take anyone’s property. I have not heard anyone on the [Borough Council] even suggest we take anyone’s home.”
At its May 27 meeting, the board appointed a subcommittee to hire a planner and begin a redevelopment study of properties that are vacant, underutilized or not being maintained.”
