Colorado tourism-incentive limits advance, despite concerns of funding board
“A bill to limit funding going to the final round of Colorado projects under a state program to promote regional tourism received overwhelming support from a legislative committee Thursday.
But that was after a dust-up between the Colorado Economic Development Commission (EDC) and the state’s Office of Economic Development and International Trade (OEDIT).
House Bill 1350, sponsored by House Speaker Mark Ferrandino, D-Denver, would limit state sales-tax-increment financing awards for tourism-generating projects under the Regional Tourism Act.
The bill would cap financing awards at 50 percent more than the total recommended by third-party analysts for the projects in question. “
