Commerce City negotiating for 65-acre Greyhound Park development
“Redevelopment plans for the former Greyhound Park racetrack in Commerce City are slowly moving along with the one remaining developer interested in the site.
Two developers initially responded to a request for qualifications. Woodhawk Development withdrew its application shortly before the city’s Urban Renewal Authority board voted to select Denver-based Real Estate Generation LLC.
Commerce City planning manager Chris Cramer says city officials were impressed with Real Estate Generation’s proposal.
But officials say they realize that the 65-acre size of the site, off of East 62nd Avenue and Dahlia Street, is a challenge.
“We weren’t sure what to expect,” Cramer said. “The bigger the project, the fewer and fewer people who are qualified to do it.””
