Iowa City reaches $700K settlement with NCS Pearson
“NCS Pearson and the city of Iowa City have reached a sizable settlement agreement to resolve an eminent domain dispute that wound up in court last year.
The company filed a voluntary dismissal of its case this week in Johnson County District Court after coming to terms with the city, which has agreed to pay more than $700,000 for land, utility line relocations and other costs in order to build a new road.
The city last summer attempted to use eminent domain to build a half-mile access road through NCS Pearson’s property to the proposed Moss Ridge Campus office park, a long-discussed 172-acre development northwest of the Interstate 80 and Highway 1 interchange.”
