Eminent domain can save Mount Manresa
“Who is supporting the sale of Mount Manresa to developers? Do they have a petition for that? How many people have signed up?
The Save Mount Manresa committee, on the other hand, represents 10,000 people and 37 businesses and organizations. Aren’t the voices of more than 10,000 people enough to get the fate of Mount Manresa seriously debated in the City Council or state Legislature?
Eminent domain scares people — and with good reason, as the recent example of Cedar Grove Beach reminds us. In that case, people lost their homes because of it. But in the case of Mount Manresa, no one would lose their homes — and we would gain a beautiful park with genuine historic and environmental importance for everyone to enjoy.”
