Don’t let BVT take away rights of homeowners
“The previous Buena Vista Township Committee removed the redevelopment designation from Richland Village as requested by Richland residents who are affected by the blighted area designation.
Development and redevelopment are two different things. I strongly supported the Richland Village concept from the beginning. However, my neighbors and I were not aware redevelopment included eminent domain until last fall when I saw documents which prove this. New Jersey has always had eminent domain; used mostly for public safety and road widening. This is totally different. Using eminent domain, a developer could pay fair market value for your home or business and legally take it. Many say this will not happen. Well, it has happened in New Jersey.”
