Malta exercising eminent domain to build roundabouts
“In order to build two roundabouts that have been largely opposed by residents along the Round Lake Road corridor, the town plans to use eminent domain on 13 properties to make it happen.
The move has further raised the ire of residents living there.
“No one wants these roundabouts,” said Round Lake Road resident Woody Sloat, “especially not in front of an elementary school. They are going to downgrade our area to put them in. They are not pedestrian friendly.”
The properties are a mix of businesses and private residences, and the amount of property the town would have to acquire ranges from a low of .0003 acres to a high of .25 acres.”
