Urban Renewal defends pricey retreat
“Board members, staff and guests of Pueblo’s Urban Renewal Authority — 17 people in total — spent an estimated $10,000 on a two-day staff retreat at a Colorado Springs hotel a week ago.
Batey said the out-of-town location was necessary so the two days of annual planning wasn’t interrupted and because PURA officials wanted to visit the Ivywild revitalization project on South Nevada Avenue. Ivywild was an old elementary school that has been converted for commercial uses.”
