2014 Washington Legislature: Senator seeks to prevent transfer of eminent domain to agencies from other states
“Sen. Don Benton, R-Vancouver, introduced a bill today intended to prevent Washington localities from using their rights of eminent domain to help an agency from another state acquire property.
The bill takes aim at transactions like the one recently in which C-TRAN, Clark County’s transit agency, agreed to acquire property on behalf of TriMet, which provides mass transit in Portland. The deal is part of an Oregon effort to build a new Columbia River Crossing project on Interstate 5 with light rail.”
