Cocoa Beach’s Glass Bank building closer to demolition
“The city found an unexpected ally in its quest to remove the dilapidated Glass Bank from the beachside skyline.
The majority owner of the building agreed last week to not fight efforts by the city to have the building declared a nuisance and demolished. The City Commission tonight is expected to vote on the proposal.
“This is a good step forward,” said Melissa Byron, the city’s economic development director. “We never had even one of the property owners agree to anything we are trying to do.”
Joseph Yossifon, trustee for the Glass Bank Building Condominium Association, will let the city raze the structure, clear the site and allow a lien to be put on the property to recoup the costs, according to an agreement posted on the city website.”
