Public service commissioner: ‘Avoid’ land seizures for power lines
“Public Service Commission Chairwoman Audrey Zibelman says that in transmission line planning, they’ll do “everything we can to avoid” eminent domain seizures of land and that they prefer projects that stay within existing rights-of-way.
Zibelman met today with the editorial board of the Poughkeepsie Journal and took questions on the commission’s current project that invited developers to propose solutions to New York state’s grid problems. Final proposals from them are expected in 2015 and a decision would be expected a year or more after that.
Four proposals would affect Dutchess County, three of them involving corridors that run through northern Dutchess towns.”
