Judge permits land-value estimates in Sioux Falls eminent domain case
“A Sioux Falls eminent domain case centering on property near the Cliff Avenue and Interstate 90 interchange had another day in court Monday.
The owners of the land in question contend the department badly undervalued the land and now are fighting to win more compensation from the state, according to court documents filed in the case.
The defendants, Tom Walsh and Robert Miller, originally had intended to use the property for a hotel and restaurant development, but when the Department of Transportation began rebuilding the Cliff Avenue interchange, access to the future hotel site was cut off, which Walsh and Miller argue devalued the land.”
