City to start eminent domain proceedings
“The Waxahachie City Council approved a resolution authorizing Midlothian’s city attorney to initiate eminent domain proceedings on land for the future expansion of Mid-Way Regional Airport at Monday’s meeting.
Midlothian City Attorney Don Stout will handle the proceedings against Ken Thompson for the acquisition of land. Stout, representing both cities, had previously made two offers of $71,200 to Thompson to purchase the land.
Assistant City Manager Michael Scott said the city has been working with the property owner for the last year to acquire the 7.118 acres of land. The property would be used for drainage and later hangars would be constructed on the site. The land is located on the north side of the terminal building.”
