City plans to eminent domain property
“The city of Huntsville is looking to condemn property on U.S. Highway 190 through eminent domain litigation after failing to reach an agreement with the landowner, records at the Walker County District Clerk’s Office show.
The city wants to acquire a 1,306 square-foot easement at Gardner Homes – owned by Randy Gardner, and another 914 square-feet easement on property shared between Gardner and his neighbor John Cooper at Grant’s Tax Service – for the replacement of an old six-inch water line with a new 12-inch line to better serve domestic and fire water demands in its distribution system.
