Hearing over Flight 93 crash site land begins
“An eminent domain hearing is underway in Pittsburgh over whether the federal government underpaid the former owner of the land where United Flight 93 crashed on Sept. 11, 2001.
Michael Svonavec claims he was paid a fraction of what the 275-acre parcel was worth. The Department of the Interior condemned the southwestern Pennsylvania property under eminent domain in 2009, and paid $611,000 for it. The Families of Flight 93 group paid Svonavec an additional $750,000 for expenses he incurred.”
