Land case to court
“Eminent domain proceedings by the School District of Beloit against property owners Anna and Larry Truckenbrod are expected to move forward this week.
A motion hearing is set Tuesday before Rock County Circuit Court Judge Barbara McCrory. The motion hearing is currently scheduled to be followed by a two-day hearing with the three-member Condemnation Commission on Thursday and Friday.
The district plans to build a new intermediate school on the property near the corner of Milwaukee Road and Lee Lane and has said it will need the Truckenbrod property to do it.
The Truckenbrods rejected the district’s final offer for their land at 2570 Milwaukee Road. The district had also announced it intended to purchase 3.19 acres at 2554 Milwaukee Road owned by Mary Densch and Steve Willis to bring the total land acreage for the new southeast intermediate school up to roughly 12 acres.”
