Eight hotels sue to overturn incentives for Aurora Gaylord hotel project
“A group of eight Front Range hotels filed a lawsuit late Wednesday asking that the Colorado Economic Development Commission (EDC) force Aurora to reapply for a state tax break it wants to encourage the construction of a giant hotel and resort complex near DIA.
The lawsuit (download here) also asks the court to declare part of the Regional Tourism Act (RTA) unconstitutional.
The argument for these actions essentially is the same one made by a larger group of 22 hotels that asked the EDC in July to revoke $81.4 million in incentives awarded to builders of the proposed Gaylord Auora project in May 2012 and require them to reapply for the money.”
