Eminent domain to be considered for Glen Helen bridge project

“San Bernardino County supervisors on Tuesday will consider taking legal action to seize two properties needed to build a $25 million bridge over railroad tracks near Glen Helen Regional Park and the San Manuel Amphitheater.

The action comes following failed negotiations between the county and the property owner in June.

Now, the Board of Supervisors will consider authorizing its Real Estate Services Department to use eminent domain to acquire the properties. A public hearing will be conducted prior to any board decision on whether to authorize condemnation.

It would cost the county $1 million to seize the neighboring properties at 2169 and 2191 Glen Helen Parkway, near the Union Pacific and BNSF Railway tracks, northeast of the San Manuel Amphitheater and Glen Helen Regional Park, according to a report prepared for the Board of Supervisors.”
