Soccer fields for Bloomfield’s Lion Gate land?

“Though a common reframe, the issue could be winding down. After 90 minutes of public comment from a large contingent of Bloomfield Soccer Club parents and Mayor Raymond McCarthy’s initial skepticism, the council agreed to see if the developer would be interested in selling the property back to the township.

The ultimate goal would be to build soccer fields there for the popular youth teams in town. The deal hinges on if the developer, Somerset Development, would be willing to sell the land back.

Once the town gets the land appraised, Township Attorney Brian Aloia said the municipality could also take the land via eminent domain. This comes as the Boys Under 15 team came in second place during a surprise run to the U.S. Club Soccer National Cup championship tournament in Colorado on Sunday.”
