Public hearing set for airport eminent domain
“The public will have a chance to have a say on a plan to use eminent domain to acquire property at the Meadowgreens Golf Course to create a new safety zone around the Columbia County Airport.
The County Government Committee of the Columbia County Board of Supervisors voted unanimously Tuesday to set a public hearing at 7 p.m. Aug. 14 at 401 State St. in Hudson in the board chambers regarding going through with the eminent domain proceedings.
The county has offered the ownership group of the golf course, headed by Nero, $629,000 to purchase 16 acres of land and acquire easements for another 90 acres.
Nero and his partners want more. “Substantially more,” he said.
“The amount they are paying me is ridiculous,” he said.”
