Woodridge hires firm to help companies move out of mall

“Woodridge officials hired a consulting firm this month to assist several businesses in relocating from a strip mall property the village is trying to acquire by force.

In February, the Village Board authorized eminent-domain action for the 4.8-acre Janes Plaza Shopping Center property, near Janes Avenue and 83rd Street, to build an athletic recreation center at the site.

On July 11, trustees voted unanimously to pay Annette Favia Relocation Consulting Services Inc. up to $60,000 for relocation services. The site has several businesses, including a convenience store, a pizza restaurant and an insurance agency.”
