City wants to expand Eagle Point Park
“he city of Clinton plans to use eminent domain to acquire land that would expand Eagle Point Park. But the current land owners believe the city’s plan is less about bolstering park land than it is about settling a lawsuit.
Tim and Annette Bice own 21.5 acres of land near Cragmor and Lakewood Drives that extend to Eagle Point Park. The couple purchased the land in 2010 and planned to use it for logging, building a home and potentially developing into a subdivision.
The property line between the Bices’ land and Eagle Point Park falls one foot away from the drive south of the castle and extends into the parking lot in that part of the park.
“We would like a little more of a buffer,” City Administrator Jessica Kinser said. “Eagle Point Park is a very special place and anytime we can add to it we want to.””
