Settlement expected to be reached in Straub land eminent domain case
“Salem-Keizer school district officials are expected to resolve an eminent domain case over the property value of farmland used to build two schools without going to trial Tuesday.
“We’re going to settle this case,” Paul Dakopolos, an attorney for the Salem-Keizer school district, said today.
School district officials in 2009 offered to purchase the land in West Salem from McKenzie Willamette Properties LLC, a company managed by the family of former Gov. Robert Straub.
The district wanted the land along Orchard Heights Road NW to build Straub Middle School and Kalapuya Elementary School, but they could not agree on a price.”
